BF6 Players Agree: Challenges Are Overly Demanding
The launch of the highly anticipated Battlefield 6 received widespread acclaim, especially for its top-tier multiplayer mode. Exclusively on Steam, simultaneous player numbers reached a high of nearly 750,000. Nevertheless, regardless of its fanfare, an increasing amount of players are voicing discontent with some of the game's most difficult challenges, which are required to access certain guns.
Gamers have begun turning to custom matches made via the Portal feature to achieve these objectives, highlighting just how arduous these challenges have become.
Grasping Battlefield 6 Tasks
Tasks represent Battlefield 6's ongoing multiplayer objectives, in contrast to the frequently updated daily and weekly challenges. There are four classes of assignments, but while the majority only reward skins and a few gadgets, achieving the firearm tasks is the exclusive means of obtaining a dozen out of forty-one key firearms available in the game.
A number of these restricted firearms may soon find their way on rosters of the best guns in Battlefield 6.
Community Frustration via Reddit
Over on Reddit, players are justifiably expressing their worries about how challenging and repetitive some of these challenges are. One user emphasized one of the most outrageous examples, required to unlock the KTS100 MK8 LMG:
- Neutralize 300 foes with LMGs
- Deal 10,000 close-range damage with LMGs
"This task is so awful and totally unreasonable, I want to tear my hair out," is a statement that captures just how annoyingly hard these tasks are.
The suppression mechanic in Battlefield is more diminished than before in the series, so it has significantly fewer benefits in combat as it used to in previous games. It only tallies as suppression if you fail to hit several consecutive shots.
Additionally, using an LMG from the hip is highly imprecise and is effective only at point-blank proximity, which is not usually a position you aim to be. The commenter also noted the contradiction in the SMG challenge, needed to obtain the SCW-10, which needs takedowns using ADS, when that task would be much better suited to hipfire kills, and conversely.
Another Ridiculously Tough Challenge
One more community participant highlighted an additional excessively hard challenge, now in the marksman rifle class to access the PSR:
- Secure 150 precision takedowns from more than 200 meters away with marksman guns
This is difficult enough as it is, but there's one more key thing to consider: the majority of Battlefield 6 maps fail to facilitate combat at such a long range.
There's a healthy variety of map sizes, but since there are only nine maps in the game at present, it means you're limited to playing a specific urban map, another expansive area, and perhaps a classic map if you're lucky if you plan to engage from afar from beyond 200 meters.
The Alternative Method
Nevertheless, a method exists: Battlefield Portal. The custom game creator is a tool that allows you to create personalized matches on whatever map you choose, complete with bots. This means you can exploit the mechanics… but it isn't truly in line with the intended gameplay experience.
Yet, if doing the challenges in a standard match feels like anti-playing, since you must engage in such an unorthodox manner that doesn't benefit you or your team, who can blame someone for completing them in a private match so squad members are not disadvantaged?
Future Adjustments
It should not be shocking if a number of these missions are toned down in the coming days or weeks, because unless they are modified, some players simply are unlikely to obtain the gated weapons.
Currently, the community continues to share their thoughts on these demanding in-game tasks, hoping for a more balanced player experience in subsequent patches.
